Extricating the Tweener..
It was started by a lackadaisical Vilas, who will always be remembered as the man who had 46 consecutive ATP wins(Novak came perilously close). The Tweener was called the "Great willy" by Vilas and it was done sometime in 73'.His 1st loss during the 46 streak was at a best of five-set final, Vilas dropped the first two sets by 6–1, 7–5 and then retired in protest of Năstase's use of a spaghetti strung racquet (which was banned by the ATP shortly after).
Yannick Noah was also a Tweener exponent and used it to a good extent. He is now a celebrated samaritan with a musical bent:)
Carrying the legacy was another Frenchman-Fabrice Santoro.
He would always be remembered as the marathon man-the 2004 French open clash with Clement was big in itself until Nicolas Mahut-J.Isner killed it in terms of length .
In the present era , Roger Federer is the celebrated tweener (Djoker was at the receiving end!) and even Nadal does it often.
What's astonishing is that Gaby was also an exponent :)
